The 2026 component shortage is selective, not universal — which makes it harder to plan around, not easier. AI data center buildout is consuming memory and power capacity. EV electrification is pulling automotive-grade parts. MLCC manufacturers are redirecting capacity to high-end applications, and October 2025 export controls froze several logic and discrete lines. These are the 15 hardest-to-find categories we source every business day.

  • High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) Sold out through end of 2026 across suppliers. AI accelerators have pre-allocated the majority of HBM capacity to hyperscalers. Spot channel is the only path for late-2026 builds.
  • DDR5 SDRAM 39–52 week lead times on allocation. Server DDR5 and automotive-grade parts have seen the sharpest 2026 price moves — up 40–70% quarter over quarter through Q1.
  • DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 pricing up 90–105% QoQ in Q1 2026. Micron and other major suppliers running DDR4 on formal allocation as AI edge and legacy platforms compete for the same die.

When a manufacturer discontinues a part number, franchise distribution stops carrying it — usually within 6 to 18 months. The part doesn't disappear from the world; it moves into OEM overstock, excess sellers, and the secondary market. That's the channel we've been working since 2005.

A 52-week lead time from your franchise distributor is not the same thing as a 52-week wait. Somewhere in the excess channel — an OEM's overstock, an EMS canceled program, a broker's floor — the part you need is already sitting on a shelf. Our job is to find it, verify it, and get it moving.

What are hard-to-find electronic parts?

Hard-to-find electronic parts are components that are unavailable through franchise distribution — either because they've gone obsolete or end-of-life (EOL), because the manufacturer is running them on allocation, because production has been discontinued, or because current demand has exceeded supply. They typically require sourcing through the excess and secondary market, which is what we've been doing since 2005.

How do you find obsolete electronic components?

We source obsolete parts through 20+ years of direct relationships with OEMs, EMS providers, and secondary-market sellers who hold legacy stock. When a manufacturer discontinues a part number, franchise distribution stops carrying it within 6 to 18 months — but the parts don't disappear. They move into OEM overstock, canceled-program surplus, and specialist broker inventories. That's the channel we work.

What is the difference between EOL and obsolete parts?

EOL (end-of-life) is the announcement phase — the manufacturer has scheduled a last-time-buy date but the part may still be in production. Obsolete means production has ceased and the part is no longer manufactured. Both usually require sourcing through the excess channel, and both are core to our business.

Which electronic components have the longest lead times in 2026?

The longest 2026 lead times are on High Bandwidth Memory (allocation only through end of year), DDR5 and DDR4 DRAM (39–52 weeks), automotive-grade MCUs (40–55+ weeks), high-end FPGAs (44–78 weeks), SiC MOSFETs and IGBT modules (26–52+ weeks), and high-capacitance MLCCs (20–52 weeks). Legacy discretes and Nexperia-dependent logic remain in extended backlog following the October 2025 export controls.

Can you source allocated parts?

Yes. When a franchise distributor tells you a part is on allocation, that means the manufacturer is rationing supply to top-tier customers. We work the excess and OEM overstock channel to find that same part number outside the allocation window — often in quantities that solve your immediate line-down or program need.

Why is the 2026 shortage different from the 2021 shortage?

2021 was broad — nearly everything was constrained. 2026 is selective. Standard analog, general-purpose logic, and consumer-grade passives are largely available. The pain is concentrated in AI-driven categories (memory, power, high-end packaging) and EV-driven categories (automotive MCUs, SiC, hi-rel passives). Substitution is harder, not easier — the specific SKUs you need may have no drop-in alternate.

Documentation on request. Visual inspection and date-code screening on every lot. Independent testing available for critical parts — X-ray, decap, electrical. We'd rather turn down a suspect lot than ship it.

Is there a minimum order quantity?

No. We work single line items and full BOMs — production runs, prototype builds, and one-off repairs are all welcome.
