MIL-spec and JAN parts are a small share of total component volume but a disproportionate share of the sourcing pain, because qualification cycles are long, drop-in equivalents don't exist, and the customer usually needs documentation your typical distributor doesn't carry. Under MIL-PRF-19500 (discretes), MIL-PRF-38534 (hybrids), and MIL-PRF-38535 (monolithic ICs), every level (JAN, JANTX, JANTXV, JANS) has its own screening and paperwork requirements.

MIL-STD-883 Class B and Class S monolithic ICs — op-amps, ADCs, voltage references, logic gates, and legacy microprocessors under MIL-PRF-38535 SMD (Standard Microcircuit Drawing) — are on the longest lead times we see across the entire catalog. Class S (space) and MIL-STD-883 Q/H/V/E process letters run 52–104 weeks when they're available at all.

What paperwork can you provide on a JANTX or JANS quote?
Certificate of Conformance, DPA report where available, QCI results (Group A, B, C, D as applicable), full lot traceability back to die or wafer lot, and manufacturer traceability. For Class S / space parts, additional testing paperwork through partner labs available on request.
