Koninklijke Philips N.V., founded in Eindhoven in 1891 to make incandescent lamps, is today a health-technology company headquartered in Amsterdam (Wikipedia); (Philips — About). Historically it was a major electronic component supplier: its passive-components business was divested as BCcomponents and its semiconductor division was sold in September 2006 to a KKR-led consortium, becoming NXP Semiconductors (Wikipedia).
