Signetics Corporation, founded in 1961, was the first company established specifically to make integrated circuits, producing DTL and TTL logic, linear ICs, timers, phase-locked loops, field-programmable logic arrays and early microprocessors (Wikipedia). Its 555 timer, NE565 PLL, NE566 VCO, NE5532 audio op-amp and 82S100 FPLA became industry standards (Wikipedia). Philips bought Signetics in 1975 and folded it into Philips Semiconductors, the predecessor of NXP (Wikipedia).
