About NEURA Robotics
NEURA Robotics GmbH was founded in 2019 by David Reger, an entrepreneur who set out to close what he described as key innovation gaps in European robotics and to usher in an era of "cognitive" machines — robots that can perceive their surroundings, make decisions, and learn from experience rather than simply execute pre-programmed trajectories. The company is headquartered in Metzingen, Baden-Württemberg — the same Swabian town best known as the home of Hugo Boss — and now operates additional engineering and production sites across Germany, a Zurich R&D hub in Switzerland, a Hangzhou production facility in China, and expanding operations in the United States.

Technology stack
NEURA's platform is a tightly vertically integrated combination of custom mechatronics, multi-modal sensor fusion, NVIDIA-class onboard compute, and NEURA's own Neuraverse cognitive-AI operating layer. Perception
4NE1 uses seven 3D cameras for full 360-degree omnidirectional perception, supplemented by LiDAR and time-of-flight sensing, a multi-channel microphone array for multilingual voice commanding and emotion detection, and force-torque sensing at every moving joint with a sensitivity of 0.1 N and repeatability of ±0.01 mm. NEURA's patented Omnisensor enables touchless human detection — recognizing people through clothing at a distance — and its full-body artificial "sensor skin" detects proximity a fraction of a second before physical contact, letting the robot operate without safety cages alongside people.
Neuraverse, Aura AI, and NVIDIA Isaac GR00T
The 4NE1 Gen 3.5 runs on the NVIDIA Thor T5000 onboard compute platform, executes the NVIDIA Isaac GR00T XX humanoid foundation model, and layers NEURA's proprietary Aura contextual AI and Neuraverse operating system on top. Actuators, power, and compute
4NE1 uses electric brushless DC (BLDC) actuators throughout, with high-torque leg joints (roughly 490 N·m per leg joint) developed in collaboration with Schaeffler under a €300 million framework agreement running to 2035. A dual hot-swappable battery pack, active water-cooling on the compute stack, and onboard AI inference deliver 6–8 hours of continuous operation and, according to NEURA, support "uninterrupted 24/7" duty when batteries are rotated. Power management is one of the most demanding subsystems on a machine of this class. Each joint's servo controller has to deliver several hundred watts of instantaneous torque without thermal throttling, which drives heavy use of wide-bandgap semiconductors (SiC and GaN) in the motor-driver and inverter stages, tightly matched precision resistors on every current-sense and gate-drive channel, and dense arrays of MLCC capacitors on every power and signal rail.
