About MagicLab

MagicLab — legal entity Magiclab Robotics Technology (Wuxi) Co., Ltd., and known in Chinese as 魔法原子 (Magic Atom) — was registered in late 2023 and publicly launched as a brand in January 2024. It was incubated within Dreame Technology's robotics ecosystem — the fast-growing Chinese maker of robot vacuums and small appliances — and its founding engineering team came out of Xiaomi's CyberDog (\"铁蛋\") quadruped program, led by former Xiaomi robotics head Wu Changzheng. Wu, a graduate of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, served as MagicLab's president until early March 2026, when he departed to start a new venture during the company's reported IPO preparation.

The company's strategy from day one was full-stack vertical integration. MagicLab designs and manufactures more than 90% of its hardware in-house, including joint modules, harmonic and planetary reducers, torque motors, actuators, control units, and dexterous robotic hands, and pairs that hardware with a proprietary embodied-AI stack the company calls \"brain + cerebellum + heart\". Unveiled in Beijing on July 8, 2025, MagicBot Z1 is a compact ~140 cm, ~40 kg bipedal humanoid with 24 base degrees of freedom (expandable to 50), high-torque joints exceeding 130 N·m, and a 320° joint-range envelope built for high-dynamics motion — side-flips, martial-arts routines, and rapid disturbance recovery. MagicDog and MagicDog Y1 (2024–2025) — bionic quadrupeds

Technology stack

MagicLab's platform is a vertically integrated combination of custom mechatronics, multi-modal sensor fusion, on-robot compute, and a proprietary embodied-AI stack the company describes as \"brain + cerebellum + heart\" — high-level policy, low-level motion control, and power/thermal integration. Perception

Actuators, power, and compute

MagicBot Gen1 uses electric brushless torque-dense motors throughout — no hydraulics — routed through a mix of harmonic and planetary reducers to deliver peak joint torques of ≥350 N·m in a package that keeps total mass around 70 kg.
