About Microsemi and Microchip HiRel

Microsemi Corporation was founded in February 1959 as MicroSemiconductor in Culver City, California by Arthur Feldon and Steve Manning, and formally incorporated in Delaware on September 27, 1960. Renamed Microsemi in February 1983, the company spent six decades building one of the deepest portfolios in U.S. defense and aerospace semiconductors before being acquired by Microchip Technology Incorporated (Nasdaq: MCHP) on May 29, 2018 in a transaction with an enterprise value of approximately $10.15 billion. The path that produced the modern Microsemi HiRel line ran through a long series of acquisitions of specialist U.S. discrete-semiconductor houses.
