Nichicon Corporation is a Japanese capacitor manufacturer headquartered in the Karasuma Oike district of Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto, and listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. The company was established in August 1950 as Kansai-Nii Works after separating from Nii Works Co., completed its first factory in 1956 and adopted the Nichicon name in 1961. It is one of the largest capacitor producers worldwide, with aluminium electrolytic capacitors - including chip, snap-in and large-can types - film capacitors, positive thermistors and hybrid integrated circuits. Nichicon also builds power electronics equipment such as switching power supplies, DC-DC converters and inverters for electric vehicles, EV charging stations and energy storage systems.
