Burndy LLC manufactures electrical connectors, fittings, grounding products and installation tooling for commercial, industrial, utility, renewable energy, telecommunications and OEM markets. The company was founded in 1924 as the Burndy Engineering Company by engineer Bern Dibner, who patented a universal connector requiring neither soldering nor welding. Burndy went public in 1956, was bought by Framatome Connectors International in 1988, and became a subsidiary of Hubbell in 2009. It operates manufacturing plants in the northeastern United States, Brazil and Mexico, and certifies its connectors and tools to ANSI, CSA, IEC, IEEE, NEMA, UL and military standards.
