About AMP
AMP began in 1941 as Aircraft-Marine Products, making solderless, removable wire terminations for aircraft and ships, and grew into one of the world's largest makers of electrical and electronic connection products (Encyclopedia.com). Its catalog covered pre-insulated and strip-formed terminals, splices, printed-circuit and coaxial connectors, fiber-optic terminals and the application tooling used to terminate them (TE Connectivity). Today AMP survives as a product brand of TE Connectivity following Tyco International's 1999 acquisition (Wikipedia).
