AMD

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) is an American semiconductor company that develops central processing units, graphics processing units, field-programmable gate arrays, system-on-chips and high-performance computing components. The company was incorporated on May 1, 1969 by Jerry Sanders and seven colleagues from Fairchild Semiconductor, and initially produced memory, logic and shift-register devices before entering the microprocessor market in 1975. AMD acquired graphics supplier ATI Technologies in 2006, spun off its wafer manufacturing operations into GlobalFoundries in 2008 to become fabless, and completed its acquisition of FPGA and adaptive computing supplier Xilinx in February 2022. Its products serve data center, client, gaming and embedded markets.
